Dallas Cowboys Player Marshawn Kneeland Passes Away at 24 Years Old
He was the 56th selection in the 2024 NFL draft
Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died aged 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft and played 18 times for the team, with four starting appearances.
He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys stated.
"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football for Western Michigan University.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the passing of a player who "gave his all" into every moment.
"I saw him strive his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the tragic event.
