Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series such as "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones stated in a statement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific TV Career

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted on social media.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
