President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Members to the White House
President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Devastating Event
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to support those in need.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Government Changes
Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event led the administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.
Status of Wolfe
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general the attorney general told a news show that she planned to visit the family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
