Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
