The Perfect Pocket Monster Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution According to Your Astrological Sign
This comeback of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked immense enthusiasm across the fandom. From the gradual reveal of newcomers before the game's release, to trainers forming strong views on the full lineup of Mega Evolutions, there's a lot for enthusiasts to look forward to.
Given many of the Super Forms boasting unique designs that highlight their traits, one idea came to mind: How can connect this with astrology? The following is inspired by a mix of intuition, sign stereotypes, and personal experience.
The Ram – Mega Camerupt
To be truthful, Houndour's evolution was almost selected for this fire sign, as they are the Mega Pokémon and astrological sign that inspire the most fear. However, a Mega Houndoom appears as constantly furious, which isn't typical of the Ram's energy, known for being fun, cheerful, and spontaneous. This makes Aries much more akin to Super Camerupt, which solely erupts when provoked. Remain on the good side of either and benefit from a powerful partner; should you offend them, be ready to face the consequences.
Taurus – Super Heracross
Much like a loyal Bull, the steadfast Heracross species, both in its standard and Super Form, has aided numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. While trustworthy, each the Pokémon and a Taurus are still battle-oriented, and – whether it's their companion or a strong opinion – will defend their side unwaveringly. What about Mega Heracross that reminds me most of my Bull-sign companions, however, is its unashamed passion for treats. Several previous Pokédex entries mention their fondness for tasty sap and how it uses its horn to collect it everything, which is pure Taurus energy.
The Twins – Mega Medicham
Look at this absolute queen. It's impossible to convince me this Pokémon is not the life of every party, offering an constant stream of gossip to anyone who wants to listen. Much like an enrapturing, gregarious Gemini, it's very easy to envision Mega Medicham captivating an entire Wild Zone with their stories. This Pokémon's Pokédex entry also states its capacity to predict an opponent's next moves, which seems very like a socially-savvy Gemini.
Cancer – Mega Manectric
The Crab is commonly regarded as the most emotional member of the astrological wheel, a intense symbol famous for often becoming absorbed in their emotions. Per the Pokédex, Super Evolution fills the Pokémon with a “huge amount of energy, but it's excessive for Manectric to fully manage,” which seems a lot like a classic Cancer crash-out. It is also known for its ability to create a storm cloud over its own head – and if there’s one thing a Cancer is going to do, it’s rain on their own parade.
Leo – Super Starmie
Well, did you think I was planning to select Pyroar for the king of the stars? Aside from the fact that it would be far too obvious, Leo is clearly Super Starmie, the diva whose legs just became an internet sensation for being too glamorous (or horrifying, depending on your preference). Fans were captivated from the purple starfish, and that’s exactly the same energy a Lion brings to the scene. Starmie is also rumored to be broadcasting radio waves from its red core out into the cosmos, and it’s just like a Leo to be putting on a show, albeit for aliens.
The Maiden – Super Victreebel
The always-ready and perpetually-anxious Maiden is ideally represented in Super Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual acid reflux. The sign known for being charmingly judgmental is clearly mirrored throughout this Pokémon’s whole lineage, from a always shocked expression like a Maiden when you tell them you lack a retirement plan, to its inverted face that’s similar to the emoji a Maiden posts to the chatroom when all says they want to “go with the flow” rather than creating a strategy.
The Scales – Super Audino
Look at this gentle, empathetic creature, who uses the sensors on its ears to detect how others are emotionally by their pulse. Always compassionate – occasionally to a fault – and striving to maintain the peace, there are numerous Scales who would likely benefit from Super Audino's skills. Though, let’s be honest, it would probably just make them stress more about everyone else.
The Scorpion – Mega Banette
This Ghost-type is a Pokémon with a unexpectedly tragic backstory: Abandoned as a toy, it became consciousness through pure hatred and swore retribution on its former owner. According to the official info, Mega Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That seems exactly like several discussions I’ve had with my intense Scorpion acquaintances. A Scorpion loves cosmic justice and comeuppance, making them the ideal pair with Super Banette.
Sagittarius – Super Hawlucha
Both Mega Hawlucha and Archers are always putting on a show. Being a Archer personally, the number of times I’ve called myself some variation of a “silly small entertainer” is countless. The showiest and most obnoxious Super Form, its Pokédex entry even notes how it “poses to show off its power.” I would do the exact same thing if I had a Mega evolved form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Sagittarius counterpart I can imagine.
The Goat – Mega Absol
Did you know that a Mega Absol has the power to predict calamities ahead of time? That exudes the exact same energy as a Capricorn, who often consistently believe they’re correct. The thing is, similar to a visionary Mega Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the absolute first Mega Evolution that trainers meet in Legends: Z-A – just like a Capricorn to join the beginning of the Mega trend.
The Water Bearer – Super Chandelure
Aloof air sign Water Bearer is arguably the non-fire placement that is most like a flame symbol – its counterpart is Leo, and there are countless memes about the Archer and Water Bearer being chaotic accomplices. Super Chandelure's double Ghost/Fire typing fits seamlessly with this, and the Super Form's general intimidating aura is also very Aquarius. If you hadn't yet convinced, the Super Form's Pokédex entry says it “absorbs hatred and transforms it into power.” If that fails to exactly {encaps
